| The Hofburg Palace was the hub of Habsburg power. But it was also now and again the little-loved home of Emperor Franz Joseph's beautiful yet restless and eccentric wife, Empress Elisabeth, or "Sisi", as she is affectionately called. On this tour of the Sisi-Museum, which is not a museum in the usual sense but rather a celebration of her fascinating personality, and of the imperial State Apartments of the Hofburg once occupied by her, we shed light on the myths and legends surrounding the enigmatic princess turned reluctant empress. Her assassination in Geneva by an Italian anarchist immortalised her forever. We also visit the former Court Church of St. Augustine, where she made her bridal vows, and the Imperial Capuchin Crypt, her final resting place |
