The Greek and Old University Quarter: Vienna's Oldest suburb behind St. Stephan's Cathedral Deutsche Version dieser Tour
Vienna's Old Town between the Danube Canal to the north and St. Stephen's Cathedral to the south is commonly referred to as "Greek Quarter", "Jesuit Quarter" or "Old University Quarter". It offers a myriad of hidden treasures. Many of its narrow cobbled lanes have not changed their course since medieval times, the area's nooks and crannies still breathe the atmosphere of days long gone by. Several of the buildings including the splendid 17th century Jesuit Church date from a time when this neighbourhood was at the heart of one of the oldest universities of central Europe.
